Please join ZERO1, SPUR, Greenbelt Alliance, and TransForm in welcoming Jaime Lerner to San José for an intimate discussion of Urban Acupuncture.
Three-term mayor of Curitiba, architect and urbanist Jaime Lerner has been the driving force behind a host of innovative urban projects for sustainable and livable communities around the globe. Lerner has found that changes to a community on any scale can have an outsized effect on life within the city. As Lerner states in Urban Acupuncture, “sometimes just one stroke of creativity is acupuncture powerful enough to make progress”.
Lerner celebrates these “pinpricks” of change—interventions of lost spaces and small acts where people come together— in the English edition of Urban Acupuncture (Island Press, September 2014). Join Lerner in an intimate conversation as he invites us to re-examine the true building blocks of vibrant communities in a discussion of Urban Acupuncture.
With support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, The Center for the Living City, ZERO1, SPUR, Greenbelt Alliance, and TransForm.
